Privacy and cookies

What this site collects

  • Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. It counts visits, which pages get read, roughly where visitors are (country and region) and what device they use. No names, no emails. It loads from this site's own address (/metrics), which passes requests on to Google.
  • The contact form. What you type (name, email, business, what you need, budget) is saved to a Cloudflare D1 database first, then emailed to me, and you get a confirmation email. A one-way hash of your IP address and your browser name are saved with it to stop spam. I use it to reply to you, nothing else.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile checks the form isn't a bot. It's a strictly necessary security check.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any host, it sees your IP address to deliver pages and stop attacks. The site reads your country and region from it to decide which cookie defaults apply.

Nothing is sold. There are no ads on this site.

Cookies

  • Necessary, always on: wfnp_consent remembers your cookie choice for about six months. wfnp_geo holds your country and region (like CA-BC) for a day, so the site knows whether to ask first. Turnstile may set its own security cookie on the form.
  • Analytics: the Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*).
  • Marketing: advertising cookies. None are used today. The switch stays so a future ad tag can't run without it.

Where you are changes the default

  • EU and EEA, UK, Switzerland and Quebec: analytics and marketing are off until you say yes. You see a small banner to choose. Until then Google may get cookieless pings (no cookies, no identifiers) that only say a page was viewed.
  • Everywhere else, including the rest of Canada: analytics is on by default, under implied consent (PIPEDA), with no banner. You can turn it off any time from "Cookie settings" in the footer.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, advertising storage and ad personalization are turned off automatically. A choice you make yourself in the cookie settings still wins.

Changing your choice

Open (also in the footer on every page) and switch things on or off. It takes effect straight away. Clearing this site's cookies resets it.
